Why Europe’s hidden AI advantage lies in the application layer

Jensen Huang describes AI as a five-layer cake. The debate focuses on models, chips, and infrastructure, but the layer that actually determines where economic value is created gets far less attention: the application layer, where AI meets the humans who use it.
This layer is a patchwork: as diverse as the people who depend on it.
Building the right tools here requires an intimate understanding of users, their context, and what they could accomplish with better capabilities. Capital and compute can't shortcut that, and it changes the competitive map in Europe's favour, more than most people expect.
